Based on the popular and classic holiday tune, this arrangement of
Carol of the Bells was set specifically for a two octave ensemble's
range, but does not sacrifice the musicality of the original work by
Mykolo Leontovich.
Beginning with the slow haunting tolls of low G4, the arrangement
builds on itself as it accelerates into a 200 beat-per-minute frenzy of
sound, sure to wow any audience. Simple bell changes are required for
some players, but most will benefit from the practice of placing their
notes accurately within the quick runs and passages.
The work requires no mallets or other special techniques, except four shaken notes in the final measures.
"For the handbell ensembles of the Gobin Memorial United Methodist Church of Greencastle, Indiana."
